HOW LONG DO SOLAR PANELS LAST?
Manufacturers give a 25 year performance warranty but If solar panels are installed and maintained properly, you can expect them to last up to 35-40 years.
DO SOLAR PANELS NEED MAINTENANCE?
Typically solar panels require very little maintenance. You should get an annual service to check all components and clean your panels. Gechnology offers a yearly maintenance service which you can book by contacting us.
WHAT SIZE SOLAR SYSTEM DO I NEED?
The size of the system you need depends on several factors: how much electricity you use, how much money are you willing to invest and what is the size of your roof. We can do all the hard work for you all we need is for you to contact us to get things started
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SOLAR PANELS?

By installing solar panels, you will increase the overall value of your home and be less energy-dependent on the grid, as solar energy will be generating a big part of your energy needs. WHAT IS THE FEED IN TARIFF?
The Feed-in Tariff is a governmental program encouraging the installation of Solar Panels. You will receive payments from your energy supplier for the electricity you generate, even if you do not use it in your household. Payments are usually made quarterly, they are tax-free and indexed to the inflation rate. Gechnology are fully MCS certified.
HOW MUCH COULD I SAVE WITH SOLAR ENERGY?
If you install a 4kW solar system, installed on a south facing roof, it can generate up to 3900 kWh. Of course, the savings will vary in different households due to specific factors, but if we follow a rule of 50% self-consumption for example on a 4kW system, you could be saving around £702 per year. This is based on electricity costing 36p per kWh.
HOW DO SOLAR PANELS WORK?
Solar panels are made from small solar cells. The cells absorb the sunlight and turn it into DC (direct current) electricity. The DC electricity is then converted into AC (alternative current) electricity, by a device called inverter, and is fed to your internal power grid. Solar Panels create your own independent small power station.
WHAT IS AN EPC?
An EPC is an energy performance certificate that assesses how energy efficient your home is. Landlords who own residential rental properties will need their housing stock to be at an EPC Energy rating of C or above by 2025.

DO I NEED PLANNING PERMISSION?
Most domestic and commercial properties will not need planning permission.
Some exceptions however are listed buildings and properties in a National Park, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or a conservation area. In all cases you should contact your local authority to seek clarification.
IS MY ROOF STRONG ENOUGH?
Prior to any installation, a full technical survey is completed, which includes a structural assessment to ensure wind and snow loadings are within the requirement.
If it is found that your roof is not strong enough, generally your roof can be strengthened.
DO SOLAR PANELS NEED LOTS OF SUN?
No, Solar Panels work in all daylight conditions and actually work at their optimum at 10ºc. In fact, if it gets too hot they start to become increasingly inefficient.
The myth that you need to be in a hot sunny country for solar panels is a myth not a fact. The UK actually provides an ideal climate for great solar energy production.
DO I NEED A SOUTH FACING ROOF?
No, Solar Panels work well on any roof facing. South, South West and South East generally are known as the best roofs. With Gechnology this is not true. Although your Solar Panels will perform better and produce more electricity if they are South facing, they will still perform efficiently if designed correctly facing East, West, North East and North West.
DO YOU GUARANTEE HOW MUCH ENERGY MY PANELS WILL GENERATE?
Gechnology will guarantee the performance ratio of our installations which means that we will guarantee the amount of energy that will be generated in a year relative to the amount of energy that falls on the panels. To get this guarantee the system must be on a SolarEdge installation.
